Make Dental Health a Priority in 2016

    Since your mouth is the gateway to your body, it is important to keep it clean and healthy by regularly visiting your dentist in Fairfield or Norwalk and practicing good oral hygiene. Here are a few specific things you can do to make dental health a priority for you and your kids in 2016.

    Buy New Toothbrushes Regularly

    Brushing twice daily is important, but it is equally important to make sure toothbrushes are regularly replaced. Over time, toothbrushes can become overgrown with bacteria and should be replaced at least a few times per year.

    Maintain Regular Dental Checkups

    It is important to visit Kids First on a regular basis for dental checkups and cleanings. Once every six months is recommended, or more frequently as needed. You can make dental checkups more fun for kids by rewarding them for good behavior with a new toy or game.

    Avoid Sugar

    One of the most important things you can do for the health of your teeth is to avoid sugary foods and drinks whenever possible. If you do indulge, be sure to rinse your mouth afterwards to wash away food particles that may be clinging to your teeth.
