How Parents Can Use Technology to Strengthen a Child's Brushing RoutineFor generations, parents have struggled with the task of making sure that their children are brushing properly. From checking to be sure that they are using the proper technique, to verifying that the children are brushing long enough, the toothbrushing routine can actually be more complicated than it may appear.

The good news is that, with recent developments in technology, parents now have an ally in the fight. Here are a few ways that parents can take advantage of technology to be sure that their children have a strong brushing routine.

Use an Electronic Toothbrush

One of the most challenging parts of teaching a child to brush properly is being sure that he or she is moving the toothbrush in the correct way. Thankfully, with an electric toothbrush, a lot of the guesswork is taken out of the equation. This can be especially helpful for children who simply have not developed the dexterity necessary to correctly utilize a toothbrush. By giving the child an easily-held electric toothbrush, parents can help to be sure that the brush is moved in the correct manner as it passes over the gums and teeth.

Another great idea is to use a timer when your child is brushing his or her teeth. It's one thing to tell a child that he or she should brush for two minutes, at least twice a day. It is something else to get the child to actually do this. By using a timer, you can help reinforce the proper length of the toothbrushing session. You can also make a game out of it, as there are many child-friendly timers available. These devices can help you to be sure the proper care is given to each toothbrushing session.

Taking advantage of technology is a great way to instill good brushing habits. If you have any questions, please contact us.
