|This year when you are putting together Easter baskets, consider your child's dental health. While candy once in a while isn't necessarily a bad thing, do you really want the entire basket to be loaded down with sweets? Instead, swap out a few of those sugary snacks for some tooth-friendly goodies.
Shaped Graham Crackers
During the Easter season you should be able to find graham crackers in fun shapes like bunnies. These crackers come in several flavors and can provide a high fiber and tooth-friendly addition to any basket.
Trail mix is packed full of protein, especially varieties that are primarily nut-based and don't contain chocolate. You can put together your own trail mix or buy a prepackaged version. Simply add some nuts to colored cellophane and tie it off with a ribbon. Just make sure that any child you are providing this basket for doesn't have any food allergies.
Most kids will like an activity more than candy, and a craft set will certainly last longer. Provide your child with beads, markers, or crayons, and help him to make a springtime or Easter themed craft.
Does your child have a movie that he has wanted for a long time? Consider picking up the DVD and adding it to his basket instead of sugary snacks.
Springtime and Easter mean warmer weather, so give your child some sidewalk chalk to give him an excuse to spend more time outdoors. Bubbles are another popular option and serve the same purpose.
Springtime themed books are a great gift for any little bookworm in your home, plus it is something that he or she will be able to use well after the Easter holiday.
If your child does indulge in some candy, don't fret. Just remember that moderation and proper dental hygiene afterwards are essential.
